Using ChatGPT to Generate Config

This is something new that I decidced to try out. Using an AI chatbot to generate a base configuration for Linux, Cisco, Arista etc. I do not know all of the Cisco commands for every feature, nor do I have the ability to memorise all the Python functions or Linix configuration. I use Google to find these answers when I am creating something.

ChatGPT has the ability to generate configuration or code that I can then modify and use in my labs. All you need to do is ask.

Generating DHCP Configuration

The DHCP configuration that I needed to add for the Arista ZTP script I did not know. I needed to looup how to add the options. Once the configuration is infront of you it’s quite readable, easy to understand and easy to modify. The configuration I got from the Checkpoint along with my option modifications is below.

I asked it to create the same. Below is the first attempt. It has split the options and added a domain.

Let’s try to regernate the response to see what it does. This time it has moved all the options into seperate code blocks. Making the response longer than the previous.

Generate Cisco Config

Here is the response from ChatGPT. This is very good. A key is missing, but all the commands are labelled.
